This Sunday we assembled as a club to fly kites on the Greensward, Frinton-on-sea to remember our dear friend Martin Corrie who sadly passed away in 2014 from Motor Neurone disease. It was a a lovely sunny day and in the morning we had a reasonable wind and we were able to get a variety of kites in the air, including Colin’s newly acquired Power Sled 81. We were joined mid morning by Simon, Gareth, Mike and Barbara from the Kent Flyers who had made the long trek up the A12 to join us from Kent, great to see you guys again this year. We were also joined by Martin’s daughters Anna and Amy, with their daughters Olivia and the two week old Florence. With nearly every club member present it was quite a turn out and despite the faltering wind everyone managed to fly some kites and enjoyed Lyn’s scrummy bread pudding cake and the lunch spread. Although the wind died on us in the afternoon and we were all desperately digging out the light wind kites it was a very enjoyable day and a great way to remember Martin :-).
You can find more pictures from the day in our photo gallery. Sadly this was our last event of the season but we will be back again in May next year for some more flying!
