Well the forecast seemed a bit more promising for the Five Parishes show this Sunday and when I arrived it was sunny with a bit of broken cloud and there was a steady 10 – 12 mph wind which was coming over the marshes from the sea. Colin already had a lifter kite up with Barney the bear and his rainbow spinner and It didn’t take long for me to join him with my 81 sled. As there was a steady 10mph wind it was a perfect morning for the trio of Aliens which looked lovely in the sunshine. With Colin’s flowtail stack and the 4 kite arches making a colourful tunnel we were starting to get some kites in the sky. Pete added to it with the colourful Lobster. Whilst we getting the kites in the sky the Kite workshop was in full swing and they had a steady stream of children decorating their kites all morning.
Unfortunately by lunch time the sky had clouded over a bit but the sun kept trying to break through. The cloud had brought with it a freshening 15mph wind which the aliens weren’t so keen on, so they were replaced by the dragons. As we had plenty of room I put up a second lifter and put up the three seahorses which added more colour to the sky. From the main arena it looked an impressive display and probably the best we have managed to put on at the 5 Parishes Show.
Throughout the afternoon the kite workshop was busy as ever and it was great to see all the children enjoying flying the kites that they had decorated. We finished the afternoon off with two very successful sweet drops, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the children.
The five Parishes Show is a lovely event with so many interesting activities going on in the main arena, such as dog agility, Birds of Prey, Pipe bands, Galloping Acrobatics and many more stalls and activities going on all over the site and it is always a pleasure to be a part of this event.
